So in the late 80's, there was a t-shirt that said Tennessee was a rival? I want to know more about this. I want to be educated.

Yes, it said “Rednecks turn orange in the Fall” Had UF, Auburn, UT, and Clemson on it.
What is also interesting is Clemson was not in the SEC, but considered a rival, while USC was not.
