Since 1925 thru 1982 we never played LSU or Alabama at home

Played in Jackson a good bit because the stadium was larger. I could be wrong on this but a planner told out class at State that when Jackie came to State, he was instrumental in getting the City of Starkville to float a bond and pay for the upper deck expansion so we could have home games and bring people into town.

For 20 years, LSU refused to play Miss State unless we came to Louisiana, which our dumbass AD department agreed to.

I'm pretty sure it was because LSU would split gate receipts 50/50 with State. State could make more money playing in BR than playing a home game. The same with Auburn. Our "home" games against Auburn were in Birmingham. Maybe an old timer can confirm this.
