The cynic in me says it’s because there’s not near as much money to be made in the cancer curing business as there is in the cancer treating business.

I believe this. My dad died of pancreatic cancer in 2017 at 81 years old. I’m in the health and life insurance business and have to have a basic working knowledge of diseases and treatments. I knew when he was diagnosed it was a death sentence, but the oncologist kept suggesting more chemo and radiation. Twelve intravenous chemo and then 10 radiation treatments on his brain after it spread through his body. If not for my mom wanting to keep hope alive I’d have told that doctor “No more. That’s enough.”

There’s no telling how many 10s of thousands of dollars that clinic and doc made. Dad lived 7 months from diagnosis, the last three being miserable. That doc knew my dad was dying no matter what he did.

Exact same thing happened to my father summer of 2017. My Dad was 71. They said he had a year to live. All that chemo bought him 1 extra month.
