"Per Capita" is a completely meaningless statistic

Not really. You can't actually believe that Mississippi at just under 3 million population can put the same number of kids in the NFL as Texas with a population at 28.6 million. It'a very meaningful statistic to level the playing field when two sample sizes are very different as in this case. I hope your job doesn't require statistics or critical thinking.

Leveling the "playing field?" In regards to what? Message board argument s? It's meaningless and if you really want a legitimate deep dive in to numbers "per participant" is a much more valid number but still rather meaningless.

California produced 2 of the best players in the SEC last year (Bowers and Young) and their "per Capita" numbers are abysmal but if you had a choice between recruiting California or Mississippi you'll choose California 10
outta 10 times.
