Maybe I should have added some comments.

A kid throwing 100 today is nothing like a Nolan Ryan 100 fast ball.

Why?

Measuring points. A ball slows as it travels and the old radar guns measured the ball closer to the plate.

Nolan Throwing 100mph on the old radar guns would be more like 110 or even faster.

How the gun works is a big part of the speed difference.
