Doesn't mean it's a good reason. Baseball is not played different and he's a winner there. He could be a great recruiter with some solid assistants who played the game on a championship level. They know what it takes to win and Tanner (I don't like him as an AD) was the best to learn from. It's a no brainer to bring Landon in because the other two with long pedigrees at the Div 1 level have not panned out. That kind of kicks your argument to the curb....big time !

He's winning with transfers from kids who couldn't compete in d1 but are superior to D2 kids. He needs to go d1 and prove he can recruit at that level before taking an SEC job. I know the old guard and old Carolina thinkers who just see Carolina alumni and think that automatically qualifies someone for the job.

Actually it doesn't. Chad had never been a head coach at any level only asst at div 1. Now anyone that says we should have never promoted him is only using hindsight because at the time of the promotion he was the top asst coach in baseball and had just turned Tenn down. Kingston didn't have a "div 1" pedigree ( I don't consider a .500 record at a lower div 1 school a pedigree) and certainly had zero experience in the SEC or a Power 5 school. This is South Carolina not just any baseball team. We are, though sliding away, a blue blood in college baseball. We need to go out and get the absolute best coach available from a div 1 power 5 team. We do not take chances on a div 2 coach, that has made his living off of div 1 player transfers, just because he was once on our team.
