Since 2015 that the Women’s College World Series has outdrawn the CWS in terms of TV viewership in the Championship Series. Last year the championship series drew 1.8 for WCWS and 1.1 for Baseball. 2021 WCWS averaged 1.2 million viewers, which was easily more than baseball’s , which had 755,000 viewers on average.

This is one collegiate sport where women consistently compete with men in terms of ratings.

Unfair comparison. Due to promoting women's sports at all costs, ESPN has put the women's softball WS on the main ESPN channel and the Men's CWS never is. If it was, the ratings would blow the women away.

I'll make no comment on if this is proper-just stating a fact. That said-a good softball game is a fun, watch, but has nothing on the men's game...

And yet the WCWS had higher ratings than the CWS.

Aggies: “sips are so arrogant, unlike us down to earth folks at A&M who say howdy”

Also Aggies: never give up an opportunity to try to denigrate other people based on self-perceived superiority

Nah, I live in the loop in Houston and work downtown. I just like to point out how Aggies are just a redneck version of everything they hate about UT. It’s why OU dislikes both, but possibly A&M more because at least UT isn’t a bunch of hypocrites

over half of the CWS games were broadcast on ESPN2 or lower in the ESPN family of networks.

They outdrew the championship series by 700k. If they put the women’s Final Four on ESPN and the mens’ Final Four on ESPN 2 the men would still blow the women out of the water. It wouldn’t be close. WCWS is a good women’s draw for TV.

Softball is on3 of the few women's sports I can watch and actually be in to. Of course, baseball is my favorite sport, so it's not hard to sell me on softball.

OP, I agree with your sentiment when directed towards the WNBA. That is something people actually don't care about that is being force fed.

I’m an Aggie and like softball.

Really glad we got a new coach, looking forward to Aggie’s making the field going forward,

When you log into SECsports.com, looking for baseball scores, they ALWAYS have the softball scores up first, so you have to sort to find the baseball scores.

It's laughable.

Girls softball is as exciting (and perhaps as competitive) as 9th grade boys baseball.

Women's college softball is one of the few sports that is actually watchable from the women's side. I enjoy it from time to time, although the girls all seem to be 20-30 pounds heavier now than they were even just 10 years ago. Only real problem with the sport is a dominating pitcher can make or break your team. Hitters do seem to be catching up quickly but it is still too pitcher dominant.

But OP has a point. SEC had 9 teams in baseball regionals and 1 team in the softball world series and dedicated half the time on SEC Now every night to softball. Even on the night that Florida had a bye. They could have shown a ton of highlights from really entertaining baseball games in that time.

Bad take, McKinney- especially on a day it’s announced A&M just hired the current and two- time PAC-12 coach of the year, Trisha Ford.

Here’s to hoping we get back to WCWS soon (2017).
