Danny Ford. Won a natty at Clemson in the mighty ACC, best regular season was 8-4 followed by a bowl loss but went to the SECCG that year.
One would think a natty winning coach from the ACC could do better than 8-4. But he did recruit well and left some good players for Nutt to ride a couple of years.

Why would you think that? He had already stepped down and spent quite a few years outside of the game. If it was that important to him he would have rushed back. Bobby drove in a ditch and was only out like 6 months.
