There is a lot of talk , and hopes, that our football team is the real deal this year but are we just setting ourselves up to be disappointed again?

Offense:
We upgraded at QB and brought in some "fresh faces" at wide out. Running back we added some talent but...
Spencer couldn't get it done last year in an offensive heavy conference and now he is going to be facing SEC talent and speed every week. We all know what has happened in the past when OU made it to the playoffs and faced a real defense.

We still have the same OL players and coach as last year and he'll have the time they were either blocking air or each other.

Our new WR come from small schools so what makes anyone think that they can make the jump to the SEC and make waves?

We still have the same OC that the majority of the fan base wanted to run out of town halfway through the season last year. Did the light come on during the bowl game??

Our run defense sucked and we have the same guys back this year. If you can't stop the run you're toast in the SEC. Is our youth on the line grown up and is the LB core able to hit the correct gaps all of a sudden?

Our secondary still has Roderick back there enough said...

We have a brand new kicker this year

So are we going to have a team to be proud of or are we doing the Gamecock thing all over again?

I think the Oline played a lot better in the bowl game, the play calling looked a lot better in the bowl game.

Ive heard a lot of people say it takes until year 2 for an OC to really thrive. Maybe he still sucks, but maybe the system is run a little better this year.

as for the D, they kept us in it last year. I am hopeful that we can figure out the run D a little more, but they can win us some games.

Special teams worries me a little. Hopefully our new FG kicker is good, and our Punter can be big when needed. We at least have had those the last few years.

I’m not sure where this confidence comes from but if you look at the odds
We are only above Missouri and Vanderbilt to win the SEC (tied with Miss State and Auburn)
And Vegas has our o/u @5.5 wins

I’m not really going to set myself up for for success considering a lot of the signs point to us not having it

Yeah I’ve got a sinking feeling this year isn’t gonna be anything special. Satterfield will ruin any chance of a decent season

Satterfield is the weakest link on a team that still has a bunch of weak points.

Beamer is doing as well as he can with the upgrades he needs to make and I have a ton of confidence in White, but we can’t let the bowl game fool us that Satterfield magically figured it out.

I’m a bit worried that Rattler said they’ve been watching a bunch of LA Rams tape considering Sean McVay is notorious for adapting his play calling throughout a game and being unpredictable with his schemes. I don’t know how Satterfield could mimic that.

I’m not getting my hopes up too much but I am excited to see some improvement across the board.
