All this shows you know that not all conferences are equal.

The goal is the 4 best teams. It seems pretty obvious to me that could easily include two teams from the same conference.

It should be obvious that Michigan, despite winning the big 10 wasn’t as good as UGA..and they had the same record.

Theoretically 2 teams in the same conference couple be in. You could even see a rematch. But it will be because they earned it objectively, not were given a mulligan because of a subjective feeling.

Just about any team can beat other in a single neutral site game. It’s not about who can beat who, it’s about who earned the right to be there. Not all conferences are equal (I would like to see 64 teams form a true DI), but if a P5 team can beat everybody on their schedule they deserve to be in the playoffs. They did everything in there control. If they slip up and lose 1 game but still win there conference they are more deserving than a P5 that didn’t win their conference with only 1 loss.

Does that make sense to you? Am I explaining it right? It’s about setting a standard and rewarding those that meet it. I believe championships should by there very nature be exclusive and not inclusive. That’s why I am against expanding the playoffs. You water down the product and cheapen the accomplishment by allowing teams that didn’t earn the spot in.
