I honestly do believe this is an upgrade for us but that’s not to take anything away from Max Johnson.
Both Max and Jayden are good fits in a Kelly/Denbrock offense. Jayden is the more explosive player and has a much higher ceiling.
If Johnson can go 27 td to 6 picks with our talent, I have every confidence that JD can do even better with an improved Oline and running game.
One fact that gets left out is that JD didn’t have a dedicated QB coach after his freshman year. Now he will have three coaches (Kelly, Denbrock and Sloan) involved with his development AND he’s a grad transfer so basically his whole job is football.

This!
LSU will have two legit QB's on the roster at the same time that are each seeking a graduate degree. Not sure I've ever seen that before. It's safe to say the one who wins the job will not be able to rest on his success as the other has countless amounts of time, resources, and motivation to retake that position. That kind of competition can not be anything but good news for the team as a whole, and would not have been the case had Johnson stayed and LSU not gotten Daniels.
Mascona is correct in this sense, as Johnson will be a full time student with less time on his hands than Daniels, and Johnson is walking into a situation where he has less WR talent around him than he had in 2021. Daniels will have more time, more recourses, more coaching, and more WR talent around him than he's ever had in his career. Should be fun to watch if both Brennan and Daniels are on the roster in September.
