We didn’t have issues at QB. We had issues with the HC.

Moving Matt Jones from qb would have been a fireable offense. That dude won games and sold tickets plus brought our program publicity.

Jackson had a heck of an arm but accuracy was an issue. Jones was our best chance to win.

Yea but he wasn’t the best QB. Jones should have never been the QB to start so he wouldn’t have had to move him if he could half way coach a QB

If Petrino was the coach at the time Jackson is the QB and Jones is WR and we would have been a much better team.

Again we had a HC issue. I’ve said Matt was great but Jackson was a 2nd round pick and QB and in the NFL for 10 years for a reason.

Again we had a HC issue. Accuracy was an issue cause he played for the QB killer. It didn’t seem to be an issue at his next stop or hurt him to get drafted 2nd round and in the NFL for 10 years.

It was so bad that Jones call his own plays 25-30% of the time in the huddle cause the calls sent in were garbage

Have we ever had a QB drafted as high as the 2nd round?

Ferguson is the only one I can think of to last longer than Jackson in the NFL and that was close to 50 years ago

Matt Jones not winning any individual awards or big games was a fireable offense. He won some games but anyone who watched those offenses understood it was lacking and they were never going allow Arkansas to be a threat in the SEC.

Jackson wasn't at Arkansas long enough to know what he could do but his potential as a QB was much higher than Jones but Nutt didn't want to work with him and so he transferred. Nutt was going to stick with Jones no matter what even if the second coming of Dan Marino showed up on campus.

Jones redshirt in 2001 was taken off when Nutt started SEC play at 0-3. It was a panicked decision as the 2000 recruiting class was a disaster and Nutt failed to get a QB that would replace Clint Stoerner. The next eight years would be nothing but a terrible display of a one dimensional terrible passing offenses.
