We didn’t have issues at QB. We had issues with the HC.

Tarvaris Jackson was on the team but never got to play because Nutt is awful with QBs. D Howard used to tell me how great he was in practice.

He then went on to have a great college career, drafted in the 2nd round of the NFL and had a 10 year NFL career.

We haven’t had a QB in the NFL for 10 years or drafted that high since I’ve been alive. QB killer hurt us with that one

Moving Matt Jones from qb would have been a fireable offense. That dude won games and sold tickets plus brought our program publicity.

Jackson had a heck of an arm but accuracy was an issue. Jones was our best chance to win.

I understand. The issues were with Nutt. Jackson was a redshirt freshman who would be another Robert Johnson had he stayed. He had an arm that was stronger than Jones who injured his in high school.

Under a normal coaching regime, Jackson would get the development he deserved. The 2002 and 2003 seasons would be different with Jackson at QB and Jones at WR with Richard Smith and George Wilson. Jackson could scramble and that makes the offense a true threat instead of Jones who can run but not throw.
