I hope not too. Would love to see us come out and have another homestand like we did against Arkansas.
Here is the tale of the tape coming into the weekend:
Florida
ERA - 4.54
Total BB's - 130
Bat AVG - .283
Total HR's - 71
Tennessee
ERA - 2.15
Total BB's - 78
Bat AVG - .316
Total HR's - 88
IMO, the keys to being able to win the series are:
- Work ahead early in counts. The Vols top 5 hitters all hit over .345 so we can't afford to fall behind or get deep in counts to where we have to give them pitches they want to hit.
- Mix it up. I've watched bits and pieces of some of the games they've lost. When teams pitch backwards and keep them off balance early in counts they tend to struggle with the off-speed.
- Have a plan at the plate (whatever that may be). Maybe it's to try and work deep into counts to get their starters out of the game. Maybe it's looking for the first pitch FB to hit. It's going to be an uphill battle for 9 innings regardless. Their weekend starters sit 95-97mph and lead the SEC in ERA, WHIP, and K-BB% in conference play.
What's the old saying? The bigger they are the harder they fall?
Go Gators!
