While I agree that semi-pro is the new normal in college sports, to believe that it will stay the same as it is in this first year is asinine.

How can it possibly change? Please explain.
These are students. They are not employees. The entire non profit nature of the NCAA would crumble if you had players under contract. And university presidents would absolutely NOT change that due to the cash cow football is.

The NCAA first and foremost wants to protect its profit structure.

I see a new league forming outside the NCAA. That’s the only way. And that’s gonna be years or decades away.

I don’t know how it will change, but it will. Just like you couldn’t predict a “transfer portal” not many years ago, but here we are. Maybe the NCAA’s definition of student/employee and how that relates to eligibility. Maybe a voted on resolution to how compensation is handled by member institutions. But the sentiment of the vast majority in this arena will come into play. How? Who knows.

The NCAA is already crumbling (how they handled the Bruce pearl situation and how they are STILL handling the Will Wade situation are one example) and I agree a new league will form at some point. I think the SEC’s plan with growth is to pull away and become that league at some point.

TAMU will likely have a roster that can compete for SEC and National Championships for the foreseeable future.

I just don't think ole Bimbo is a good enough HC to lead them there.
