First the negative. We have never done ANYTHING a all that relevant in college football. Ever.

Sure, we have had a few flashes in the pan and come close a couple of times. But that’s it really.

So one would have to ask WHY is all the hand wringing here?

TRUTH. This is it.

While A&M hasn’t done anything of note yet, their potential is monumental. They have enormous amounts of cash and can buy anything they want. Also, their network with alumni is second to none and their fans can legitimately influence games at Kyle when they are close to decent.

So what does this mean? Simple really. It’s in most of college footballs best interest for the status quo at A&M to remain. No one wants to have to deal with 2 Texas teams that are legitimate title contenders on a regular basis.

So that’s where we are. A&M has shown signs of actually being what they should be. They aren’t there yet. Don’t get me wrong. But just the mere possibility that they could be scares the absolute piss out of many people.

Maybe I am way off base, but I don’t think this is just a homer view. I think there is some truth to this.

Lol all these people that supposedly don’t care just happened to care enough to respond. Looks like you caught a few. You should probably throw some of them back though.

LOL explain why you haven’t yet. It’s been a fricking decade of the same bloviation from you clowns and yet, you’ve won nothing and no one is intimidated by Kyle Stadium at Blue Bell Field.

The instant NIL came into play, collie dogs gained a huge advantage. They just have the money….

I personally think Jimbo with continue to squander talent. If they are committed to finally getting a championship they can buy one, but It will
Include a Jimbo buyout first.

Saban won’t stand for the deck to be stacked against him. As much as I hate him, he is the only one with the power and influence that can level the field with NIL. He either does that or retires

Agreed, you’ve done nothing.
No SECw championship
No SEC championship
No CFP appearance
No National Championships (1939)

Yet, your coach is saying this monumental class had nothing to do with NIL and all about “12th man and academics”

quote:

They have enormous amounts of cash and can buy anything they want.

Yeah, you just bought 7 5stars and highest rated class ever…based off $$$

Nothing wrong with NIL, but there’s a “no pay-for-play” rule…

Jimbo lost his shite Bc AM went all SMU in the very first year of NIL

Let’s look at AM and see if NIL had nothing to do with it.

AM in the past 8 years has only been in Top 5 recruiting once. But in first year of NIL, #1 and highest rated ever

AM in the past 8 years signed 8 5stars combined. In first year of NIL, signed 7 5stars.

Everything wrong/concerning over NIL pay for play was proven accurate by AM. Y’all went full retard/SMU and it’s beyond obvious. All eyes are on you.

Jimbo said it’s insulting to suggest NIL, but does he even sniff this class without it?

Either fans are lying or Jimbo is.

As far as potential…no one calls AM out if they were in Top 5 recruiting year after year and close to being number 1. No one calls Jimbo out if they were finishing Top 5 in rankings, CFP appearance, winning the West…they’ve done none of that. You can’t justify that class off hard work, 12th man lol

aggy aint winning sh*t with Jimbo's sh*tty offense and sh*tty QBs he rolls out like Mond and Calzada. Oh and look! he's rolling out another sh*tty one in Max Johnson. Can't wait til Cristobal and Miami leave aggy field with the upset and all you delusional aggies realizing how sh*tty of a coach Jimbo really is.

We will see, but I believe the Texas schools will cancel each other out. Also, Jimbo has proven time and time again that without an elite QB, he is an average coach.

There was absolutely no reason for A&M to lose to LSU this past season.

Here is what money can't buy, I can't buy a person's ability to run fast, or coach better. Jimbo is not changing and that's going to hold A&M back. Anything short of an SEC Championship will he a total let down.

I watched closely 1998 season all the way through the Sugar Bowl vs Ohio State (best team in country that year IMO). 1990's and Slocum were very good years!

To me the real key question is if such "legitimate title contenders", why then the said status quo?

Here is my 2 cents (pun intended...keep reading) on why this is after many years of living in Texas and watching A&M program relatively closely.

Look no further than the words that you used after "their potential is monumental". Cash, buy anything they want, etc. I'll come back to this.

There is A LOT of self love in your culture. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of who you are (and you have a lot to be proud of), I have found greater self love reverb in your university's culture than in most places.

A look at yourself in your own mirror is not unimpressive. Look at our AAU status. Look at our size. Look at our endowment fund. And then there is the encompassing Texas mindset; look at our skylines, our high school football stadiums, number of lanes of our highways. Look at our $, $$, $$$, $$$$, $$$$$. We are great.

However, herein your "legitimate contenders" barriers are born. Have found for many years, as related to your football results, your self-pride is too narrowly focused on your rich (but shallow) war chests. As if big war chest automatically yields championship football.

You have had a big war chest for many, many years (Texas too), yet look at your college football results. Compare to legitimate title contenders of the last 25-years. Do you see any differences? Look closely. Closer than cash, buy anything they want... Do you see the differences?

Resources are critically important. But your self love has blinded you to what really matters in championship results (details as subject of another post).

NIL has clearly changed the game, but IMO here you go again. Will your misguided faith in what you believe (shallowly) drives championship prevail yet again? Or, will A&M finally get the whole right?

So what was keeping them from being what they "should be" before....? Must have been some unknown cosmic injustice victimizing a&m. What one thing is the critical change in the college world that was keeping a&m from being what they "should be". (who decides what "should be" in this case seems to be one one cult like group of people but lets gloss over that)

Just be honest and say "woohooo... we can pay really talented players that would never have come here in the first place to come now." That's it. No wrong being righted. No correction being made. No righteous being vindicated. No making what "should be" finally happen. You just have some old rich oil guys who can now pay for wins. Nothing romantic there.
