Nate Oats is a good coach. But he's not a magician. He's assembled this team that has played and won against 3 of last year's FINAL FOUR including the defending national champion, all of whom have played quite well this season and have been/are top 5 teams.

But they've also had some horrendous upset losses including that debacle at UGA which was historically bad. What an indictment of this team's mentality. Oats can scream, yell, curse, coax, baby, coddle, plead, and sit players but at the end of the day, motivation has to come from WITHIN! You have to have the pride and initiative to take responsibility for your effort because it reflects upon YOU! And these guys lack leadership at best and are a bunch of selfish turds at worst.

They have shown they are capable of beating any team in the country and if they can string together 6 of those wins, they can win the natty. But they've also shown if they face an obscure mid-major in the round of 64, they probably get sent home. Some responsibility has to be placed at the feet of the coaches because their job is to get the best out of their players and make them better. But the players have some responsibility in this too.

I'm thrilled we beat a very good Baylor team yesterday when most people thought we'd get run out of the gym. But our bipolar Tide showed up and played their A game and took home a win. But it also just magnifies the frustration and incredulity at the inconceivable losses that have been suffered through. In the end, it makes me mad. Mad that this bunch can't get their head out of their arse long enough to play to their ability for a whole season and perhaps, just perhaps make history for Bama hoops.

....and that's basically the feelings of the entire board!
This is the perfect example of the conundrum that rabid fans of sports teams will encounter, if they are fans long enough!
The only thing that I know to do to help me through the anger of it all, is to stop and think about what it's doing to each member of the team! ...what they're having to endure at home, at school, at practice, hell, even when go out to eat or to a movie!
Fans can go find something to do, people to see, places to go, but the players are carrying that crap around with them everywhere and all the time!

So when the team wins it's all Oats and when they lose it's the terrible worthless loser players.

Pathetic.

It's Oats fault he can't motivate this team he assembled to be consistent. Hopefully he and the team has learned a lot and we can grow forward from here.

Very accurate assessment. If I compare our FB and BB motivational position; in FB there is a tradition of excellence that passes from year to year that CNS preaches constantly. That has built over time, look at 2010. That motivated tradition in BB has been lost over the last several BB coaches. It will take sometime to reestablish. IMHO CNO can do that. But it's not all on him. It comes from the players having the pride to play to their capabilities every game.
