Since I’m already in a grumpy mood today I’ll continue into the baseball thread. Where are the media relations and social media departments when it comes to baseball? We get a ‘practice is at X’ post once a day on the Twitter page if we’re lucky and a ‘please buy season tickets’ promo at the basketball game and little else during spring practice. The team is scrimmaging several times a week and nothing is reported to generate interest and excitement in the program. Who pitched and how did they do? Who got hits? Who made great plays? Who scored? What was the score? A work-study student (with some boundaries) could generate more activity, publicity and interest than what we’re getting today. Even the booster club seems to be floundering with no membership info nor recruitment less than two weeks from first pitch. And no night games until March 11? (and 3 pm weekday starts until then) What are we trying to do to a program that needs all the help it can get? Does this media silence somehow give us an advantage in players getting NIL deals? Are we just giving up? #primalscream Now all you kids get off of my lawn. But before you go tell me how much I have to pay to get my seats in the new arena.
