We fans are loyal to the team. Often times the players of said team - as much as we want them to be loyal they aren’t. They know at max they will be with a school 3/4 years and if the coach doesn’t kiss their arse or guarantee they x number of targets then they will just transfer out. You almost have to re recruit half your damn roster year after year and it has nothing to do with winning. So the haves will just cherry pick the best players from the have nots each year while dealing with their own roster attrition. The sport has honestly went stale.
