I remember in the early days hearing how BP would bolt for a better job as soon as he could. He has built our program into the elite ranks, he has one of the most passionate fan bases and one of the best home environments in college basketball.

The man will have the arena named after him and he is just hitting his stride. What would it take (other than ncaa penalties for some future reason) that would make him want to leave Auburn?

A different school offering him a job is probably all it takes. You’re Auburn. It’s not like you are some traditional basketball powerhouse.

Only reason I could see him leaving is if the basketball program ended up getting the same "friendly advice" that the football team was getting from your BoT in the past.

So long as that's been nixed, I don't see much reason for him to leave.

I suppose he could leave if he was offered a job with a historical powerhouse such as Kentucky, Duke, etc. But I’m guessing it would have to be something of that magnitude.

Probably for the same reason he "left" UT.

He won’t. He wanted the Bama job and they thought they were too good. Auburn was smart enough to offer him. He took it. He won’t leave.

I had concerns after the Final 4 run whether that could happen at Auburn again. Clearly it can. Maybe this year. If he can sustain success money at Auburn in not an issue, why leave?

I didn’t think he would leave. I just thought the NCAA would step in again.

A true powerhouse and competitor strives to excel in all things. I remember Michael Jordan being furious he couldn’t compete with Tiger Woods on the golf course. Auburn is a better University for their commitment to basketball. Only weak minded schools refuse to excel in all things. Just look at Vandy, they refuse to compete in football and that losing mentality has spread to the once good basketball program. Don’t give losing a chance in any endeavor.

He wouldn't. They don't care if he cheats or throws unauthorized BBQ's. It's all about beat Bama.

when UGA hires a good coach and *literally* the only reason pearl is any good now (GA HS talent) dries up and AU returns to the barbee years he'll have no choice

To coach at a school that isn't a perennial joke?

Not take away from this years team, which is pretty damn good. There is a difference between being an elite program, and having an elite team. Auburn is not an elite program yet.
That being said, there is no reason for him to want to leave now. But if he can’t keep recruiting Jabari smith jr’s, a blue blood might be pretty tempting for him.

Other than possibly Kentucky, none of the college basketball blue bloods would ever offer Bruce Pearl a job given his history. There's a reason he had to take the Auburn job in the first place.

He wouldn't. Wasn't he working at a grocery store in between jobs?
