The only thing he failed at was signing Drew Brees.

It would never have worked, because Saban was too stubbornly tyrannical for the pro game. Culpepper couldn’t tolerate his act. You honestly believe a pro’s pro, like Brees, would have?! Brees would have demanded a trade after the first year. Payton, on the other hand, was Brees’ football soul mate, and it worked out perfectly.

I disagree. Drew is the consummate pro. He would have worked in Miami, maybe not to the extent with Payton. Fortunately for my pro team Saban passed on Brees. Unfortunately for my college team he passed on Brees.

This is awesome. Post more meaningless stats to try and distort reality.

King Flores, crown him now.

And yet so many of his players in the NFL comeback to campus every year to see him and work out.

Jason Taylor has always been effusive when asked about Nick Saban. I don’t think the players hated him as much as fans. He missed badly on what QB to throw his pro career chips in on and got the hell out of town when he reflected upon that mistake after the season.

I think that’s the truth of it. NFL is a quarterback league and he made a fatal mistake on that front. His defenses were good. They just had no consistency on offense.

He wanted to be the czar of the football operations on and off the field so Nick has to own that one.
