Muschamp turned out to be a bad hire, but I still think the extension was worse than the hire. That buyout money was stupid.
That said, going back to that year I can't think of who we should have hired. Fuente failed, Lincoln Riley did pretty well at OU, and probably would have been exciting here but would he have stayed? Would he have been able to do anything close to what he did at OU? Kirby would have been a good get, but I feel like he walked into a good situation at UGA, It was a mess here.
Tanner is just a bad all around AD, but hiring hasnt been his worst attribute imo (not that it has been fantastic)

Idk, I hated the hire from the start
A guy who failed at Florida and we just expected him to become a better coach.
There were other guys at G5 programs I would have rather seen.
Muschamp had tons of talent on those Florida teams too as shown from the NFL draft too.
And he stunk
And yes , even though Fuente failed, I would have rather failed with him than Muschamp, we’d be in the exact same spot we were with him.
And with Riley or Smart, if we did get them and they left after say 2 years , it would have meant they were doing well with us and would have left our program in better shape than Muschamp left it

fair assessment. I just give it some pass because there werent a ton of options.
I dont give the way he handle contracts a pass at all
If ray wanted to win me over he would fire Frank. then again, id worry about who he would hire.

How do you know that?
Matt Campbell was hired at Iowa State from Toledo
Dino Babers from Bowling Green to Cuse
Bronco Mendenhall from BYU to UVA
Fuente from Memphis to VT
Richt was just fired, I would have taken him over Muschamp
Ray sucks. Ray is not qualified for this job
And this new president needs to fire him at the end of the school year to win me over

I think Amiridis is a good hire. To be honest, we needed a safe bet after Caslen and I don't believe Amiridis is the kind of guy to cause any issues among administrators, faculty, students, or alumni. He'll pretty much just work to keep SC respectable.
Is he kind of guy that will actually fire Tanner? I'm not sure. If anything, he may lean on Tanner to retire over time rather than abruptly kicking him out. I do hope I'm wrong but I'm not sure he's aiming to rock the boat much.
He'll be good at attracting/implementing research initiatives and improving our national rankings to some degree. He also knows how to walk-the-walk with our big donors and could get Darla Moore to come back around. He's definitely far more competent and personable than Caslen in that regard.

It’s been 10 years and every program is in worse shape now than he took over save for women’s basketball which no one gave a damn about until the other programs went into the shitter.

Tanner must go

I would agree with everything except not caring about Womens basketball until the mens program went into the shitter. People cared about the womens team prior to 2017. I mean that was the year that team won a national title. They were getting good attendance and hype even with the final 4.
Still Fire Tanner
