I listened to Finebaum on that day. Finebaum + his then sidekick Neal Vickers calling Rita a bleached haired mess is what made the difference. 
also a fan of West Virginia called in an Finebaum spent five minutes roasting him. Even had dueling banjos playing in the background while guy went on his rant. It’s amazing that one show in the early days of December in 2006 changed the direction of the sport so much.
