Mal was without a doubt the greatest AD in college football history. Alabama fans we need to count our blessings and be thankful to the man who made it all possible. Without Mal Moore where would Alabama be right now? I find it fitting that the last game Mal Moore watched before his death was Alabama throttling Notre Dame for the national championship. Thank you Mal for bringing in "The Coach" and laying the foundation for what we now enjoy. A foundation set for continued success far into the future.

Not even close. He lucked in to the Saban hire. He nearly hired Rich Rod.

Byrne is the best AD we have ever had.

I'm a big fan, but he literally caught lightning in a bottle.
We could easily have been 4 coaches removed from Rich Rod if it played out differently.
Sexton may have as much to do with it as anything.

He also hired Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, and Mike Shula.

Let’s give the Bama Legend his due. He kept pursuing Coach Saban, and he didn’t give up until he got his man. You “gotta” love Mal if you are a Bama man.

He's not even the greatest Alabama football AD of all time, much less all of college football.

The right man at the right time.

Nobody loved Alabama more than Mal.

Mal Moore's college team won a natty, as an an assistant he coached on 5 natty teams under Bryant, one under Stallings, and hired Nick Saban and was still AD for 2 of Sabans(I think). Far from perfect and his uber conservative offense was frustrating at times for fans, to the point he was nicknamed "Malfunction Moore". But he played a part in 8 natty teams before he died and I can not think of anybody that was a part of more, not even Bryant(7 counting the Rose Bowl win as a player). To deny his contributions to Alabama would be assanine.

Frank Broyles was pretty good.

Was Mal responsible for offering Rich Rod the HC job?

Mal Moore made some of the most horrific hires imaginable

hands together !

M Moore was a shill for the crooks that run the crapstone. R Rod would have been his 4th or 5th fail. Not in the top 50 AD's past or present in the SEC.

Dude…we all called him Malfunction Moore until he opened the vault for Saban.

Give me Greg Byrne any day. Bama is pretty good in everything right now. Baseball isn't but we have to play with only 11.5 schollies so u can't really blame the coach. If we had lotto scholliez I'm sure we'd be good there too.

He deserves tons of credit for the Saban hire. Other than that, he was a little better than average.
