People under 20 forget that Alabama football was once really in serious trouble during the Franchione-Shula years. In hindsight it looks like a blip between coach Stallings and CNS. Sorta reminds me of how young OSU fans forget how big it was for Tressel to start beating Michigan.

As the documentary “Turning the Tide” said, Saban came to Bama and got players like Julio Jones to commit when it wasn’t sexy to go there. I was still a kid at the time, but I still remember the Saban hire. One has to be in awe of what he’s done.

Saban in Tuscaloosa…

- 6 National Championships (7 for him in all, could make it 8 this year).
- 4 Heisman Trophy Winners

No run in history will ever match this, and it’s still going.
