Yeah, that's simply not true. There was a mountain of evidence as soon as it came out. While the PA Attorney General was talking about the horrors committed by Sandusky, he also praised Paterno how he handled the whole situation.

Either way, the basic evidence was there from the beginning, and fans did not support Sandusky. Paterno is a different story. He was told a watered down story, and he reported it to his superiors. That also came out early, and many fans (not all) supported Paterno.

After all that and years of progress regarding sexual assault, the current rules right now say for a coach to do exactly what Paterno did.

Also, for that one kid that the watered down story was told to Paterno, those charges were the only ones for which Sandusky was found not guilty. So it's not clear of that any assault that particular day actually happened.

The media jumped on Paterno because he's the bigger story, and a lot of stuff was published that simply was not true and there was no evidence behind it. There's a reason the NCAA took all of the punishments back.

I agree with you MedDawg. Horrible situation that I think wrongly tarnished a good man.

I guess we'll never know for sure.

Paterno knew.
