Nashville has a much better chance at being the next Austin over NWA because Tennessee doesn't have any state income tax.
Nashville is already a landing spot for many coastal transplants that got out last year.
Fayetteville is more like the next Asheville NC. As long as the virus upon humanity that is the tech industry stays away, that's OK, but it also gravely apparent that the people that voted to make their states and cities financial and criminal hell holes are moving in droves to artsy red state population areas to take advantage of the real estate and cost of living and unburdensome regulations and laws.
Arkansas governors have not been nearly open as Texas governors have been over the last 20 years about attracting tech and new media businesses, so that's a bit of a relief. Arkansas, though, has landed some whales in the gun and firearms industry, but most of those jobs are in Ft Smith and Central Ark. which aren't exactly lovers of Mao and Karl Marx.
All I know is, NWA had a nice little 20 year run from about 1990-2010, since then it's been all downhill.

The good thing is, many of those jobs are now down remotely, so people from all over the country are hired and Stat where they're already at instead of moving to Fayetteville.
I’ve actually met quite a few people that have moved from California to keep their LA salary and live in NWA for a lot cheaper since everyone shifted to remote work. Guess there’s probably a little of both.

What a nutter take. NWA gets more Pleasantville by the minute. I work in other parts of the state, and they're freaking dystopian nightmarescapes compared to here.

I’m going to have the opportunity to transfer with work to a number of different locations in 1-2 years. NWA is home, but 1b on my list. Nashville is 1a.
I haven’t been to Austin in years, but I’ve heard it’s lost much of the authenticity that made it such a destination. Gentrification on steroids.

Our lowest growth the past 3 decades is like 25%, but has been as high as 46%.
We are 546k right now.
Low range 25% increase would be 682.5k.
High range 46% increase would be 797.16k.
