The obvious is poor OL talent, which is true, but we never have a quick pass across the middle. Any other teams LB’s do not have to worry about coverage and just worry about the run. It’s the same old Gus and will always be the same Gus. He does nothing to keep defenders off balance. He thinks he can will his way running the same play and the same RB,literally, up the middle. With this OL that ain’t gonna win...

And I’m tired of the same answer on needing to play more running backs, “no doubt, we really have to do that.” So he plays the ones we already know aren’t that great.

Kim is trash and Whitlow is mediocre. Kam Martin is some kind of sad joke

I elect DJ Williams to be our savior. But he’ll need some help from our interior OL.

No. Our offensive line is pretty bad.

Yeah but let's face it, we don't field an SEC backfield outside of maybe Whitlow. Not one other team wanted Shivers. Kam Martin is a Big-12 guy who isn't going to hold up to getting smacked around by SEC/NFL D-lines.

Would like to see DJ if he ever gets healthy.

Mark Antony Richards and DJ Williams are both very highly touted RBs. Hopefully we’ll see both of them soon.

I don't disagree.

We need more outside sweeps and actually let the QB keep it

I want to see Joiner and Shivers tote the ball more

This!

Nix has the speed and smarts to run the read option. Is Gus saving that for a big time opponent? Galloway has the skill set, but from what I saw last night, he didn't make the right read, several times.

We seem to have done better in the second half of both games, which speaks to conditioning. Gus didn’t seem to open up the playbook much against Tulane. It’s understandable if he’s trying to build some rhythm with a true freshman at quarterback. We’ve got one more game for them to start gelling, let’s see what they can do. But it hasn’t looked great so far.

What? Shivers had 27 offers including UGA, LSU, Miss St, and South Carolina.

Our line sucks.

Play calling was really bad. Shivers didn't get a carry until the 4th, AFTER 3 fumbles by Boobee.

I do not understand why we don't utilize Shiver's more. Isn't he one of the fastest guys on the team? He might be shorter than McCaleb, but I bet Shivers outweighs him. We run sweeps with Stove, why not Shivers? Stove is a WR, Shivers is a natural RB and is faster. A reverse with Stove going right and pitching to Shivers could be devastating, especially if set up properly by running the Stove sweep a couple of times before.

Gus will call this on 3rd and 1 at the 40 yard line in a tie game against a prime time opponent

Red zone play calling was bad again Saturday.

No doubt! I gotta be careful what I wish for. I forgot who was calling the plays.

The only holes our offensive are opening up are for the other team's linebackers.

I think it's just too obvious. Every opponent knows it's coming and how to defend it. I don't think it would matter which back is in there.

We had more success bouncing to the outside or running plays designed to go outside.

No one understands it. The offense isn’t working and Gus keeps doing the same thing. Whitlow is a project RB. He doesn’t look to have the stamina to take more than 25 carries a game. He’s getting it done but it makes me tired just watching him.

Some stats and rankings of where Auburn’s offense ranks in the SEC after the first 2 weeks:

-Passing offense: rank 13 of 14, 192 yards per game

-Passing TD’s: 10 of 14, 3 passing TD’s

-Rushing offense: 6 of 14, 189 yards per game

-Rushing TD’s: 7 of 14, 3 total rushing TD’s

-Offensive yards per play: 11 of 14, 5.39 yards per play

-Red zone conversion: 11 of 14, 66.7% conversion rate

-Time of possession: 8 of 14, 31:02 minutes per game

-Scoring offense: 10 of 14, 25.5 points per game

-Total offense: 11 of 14, 381 yards per game.

Statically speaking, we are at the bottom of the league in several offensive categories.

Looking back at CGM’s successful teams:

Total offense per game:

2010: 499.2 yards per game
2013: 501.3 yards per game
2014: 485.0 yards per game
2017: 451.6 yards per game

I realize we didn’t win the division in 2014, but that was a very good team that could’ve/should’ve beaten State, TAMU, and probably Bama.

One other thing on how the game has changed since Gus first got to AU — in 2009 Florida had the best offense in the league with 457 yards per game, Auburn was second with 431 yards per game. Florida’s 457 yards in 2009 would be good for 6th best in 2018. It won’t happen, but Gus really needs to find a way to utilize his players talents and generate more production.
