Do I really have to remind you what happened to AU's offense between November 2007 and Gustav's hiring in December 2008? Is there the slightest chance that the chaos and anarchy that the program became during that period (not to mention three different OCs, each with radically different approaches to play calling) might have caused them a little uncertainty going into '09?

Also basically our 2008 team, since all those guys were on that squad too save for OMac.

I'm not quite sure what your argument is. On one hand, you say we didn't have offensive talent, but then you talk about having a lot of veteran talented players.

Ya, there was uncertainty going into 2009 and we had a solid turnaround, but we didn't set the world on fire. We really struggled against quality competition. I don't want to go back to stalling out against teams that are above average or better

It's just an opinion of course but BM & JL think JF3 has a very high chance to start oin 2016. BM even put an 80% on it.

Sean White better start or I have had it with Gus. If he can't come up with a balanced attack of Jovon running it and Sean throwing it then it was him the whole time not JJ. He can go back to Arky and coach at that high school he was at that is now closed.

As I previously stated we need WR's who will actually catch the ball more than half the time in order to have any kind of balance. Other wise they'll just load up against the run and wait for us to shoot ourselves in the foot with dropped balls.

Your argument, as I understand, is that we cannot achieve consistent success on offense under Gustav unless he has a phenomenal running QB like Cam or Nick, and that he is incapable of producing consistent results with an accurate throwing QB with limited rushing skills. You point at our struggles in '09 in certain games with Todd as QB as proof of your contention.

My argument is that Gustav is capable of adapting his offense to the skillset of a non-dual threat QB, provided he is a consistently accurate passer (which, in limited exposure this season, seems to describe White's skillset). IMHO, our occasional struggles in '09 weren't so much the fault of the offensive scheme (or the lack of a running QB) as they were of a group of players who were working under their fourth co-ordinator in 3 seasons (Borges in '07, Franklin for games 1-6, then Nall in games 7-12 in '08, and Gustav in '09). It is my contention that our tendency to, as you put it, 'stall out against teams that were above average or better' had more to do with the expected struggles of a team that had been through four years' worth of turmoil in the previous 20 months than any failure of the offensive strategy. And the fact that our best QB, while an accurate thrower in the short and medium ranges, lacked the arm strength to get the ball deep downfield (and whose already noodle arm had a tendency to further weaken the more he threw, leading to a lack of consistency late in the game).

tl;dr version: IF Gustav commits to a throw-to-set-up-the-run offense with a hopefully-healthy White, we can move the ball and score enough points to challenge for the division in 2016, without the need to 'find another Cam or Nick'. Conversely, IF Gustav tries to run our 2013 offense with White (or any other non-running QB) we will continue to struggle.

Yes. sprained knee versus Arky & sprained foot in practice the following week. Foot appears to be the bigger issues right now.
