They had good play during aday but made too many mistakes.

Who will certainly start?

Matthews?

What should we expect in terms of pressuring the QB.? Just the LBs? Corners too? Safeties? I Don't remeber what boom tends to do and couldn't watch a day game.

Won'y need any of that. If they stay healthy Carl & Chucky Cowart will feast on QBs.

I am actually a little sprung at that line up. Could be pretty good

one problem....Williams isn't a Sam backer. That spot will likely be filled by Moncrief, unless Jeffrey Holland wows everyone.

Is the plan to have Moncrief even against teams like Arkansas/LSU/Bama where we plan on playing more of a 4-3 3-4 look and not as much nickel?

I heard Muschamp talking about it in an interview and it wasn't abundantly clear since he referred to those previously mentioned games as more of a 3LB type defense

The way I took Boom's comments I don't think so. He wants to use someone bigger.

na. Them wreaking havoc will open up opportunities for others.

My point being I don't think we will need to rush more than 4 DL or 3 DL & a stand up DE to get consistent pressure this year. If we blitz it'll be because that may be who Boom is but we won't have to.

Lawson, Kennion and Cowart should all give solid pass rush ability.

With Monty inside and a solid presence at the other DE in say Lambert/Williams, we should be solid while not great.

I agree. It will be better, but will not dominate.

Lawson better have a good year, because the expectations being put on him by fans is outrageous.

You just ommitted the most consistent & 1 of the 2 best defensive players this Spring in Donty Russell. I would not be surprised if he is one of the best defensive players we have this year.

Whether it's right or wrong that's just the price of being a 5* & top 5 recruit on 2 of the recruiting sites...And having nearly 20 sacks in his senior year doesn't hurt also.

I think it's more along the lines of unrealistic fans having unrealistic expectations for a player coming off an ACL injury, and automatically fixing a terrible pass rush.

I remember Russell being praised more for his run stopping and solid pass rush. I didn't bring him up since I expect Monty to bring most the pressure from the inside.

Not saying Russell won't, just that oI don't expect him to be elite pass rusher

Don't have to be. If Carl & Chucky are terrors they will get doubled leaving others open.

He's not doing it alone. There's better talent & better D schemes to help get the job done.
