I'd like to go on record that I freaking hate UnderArmour. It sucks and I hope a comet hits the factory in China making the crap (without ppl inside).

That being said it is a poor excuse to not be able to recruit.

I like Under Armour stuff more than Nike for the most part. Their shoes aren't great though.

But it truly isn't as big of a recruiting issue as its made out to be

I agree somewhat but it is without question an obstacle that the AD could do something to remedy along with the Komara ban. Historically sucking and not being in an urban area are larger hinderances but there isn't much we can do about those.

Me too. Huge UA fan. Nike does make a lot better shoes though.

Auburn apparel looks its best with Under Armour IMO. I don't think Nike or Adidas would look as great.

I think the AD pretty much wants us to stay clean and treat bball recruiting as if its a black and white, can do this, can't do that, deal.

Thing is, bball recruiting us full of gray areas and incredibly more shady than football recruiting. If you're going to succeed, you're gonna have to play dirty, and when Barbee's original contract had the clause in it that cut his pay drastically if the program was under investigation, it told me that the AD didn't want to risk it, and thusly weren't fully committed to the bball program becoming a winner.

That's just my opinion though.

you can almost certainly manage the risk with regards to basketball recruiting... and the at this moment in time, the NCAA has as little clout as ever. I'm certainly not saying to break any rules, but we should be playing the same game as everyone else.

The bottom line for me is I want to see a winning product.... black and white or whatever you want to call our approach means little to me. It's an excuse... just like BEMC was an excuse... just like Mark Kamara is an excuse... just like NCAA sanctions from nearly a decade ago are an excuse...

Personally, I love basketball... but I can't watch the utter sh*t we put on the court. Until it approves, there's no sense in supporting it.

Auburn should ask Phil Jackson if he wants the job. The worst that could happen is a no.

Call it whatever you want but there are more problems with our program than just the coach. Recognizing those problems are not a pass for Barbee because he's sucked so far. You just can't blame everything on him though.

And if he just laughs and hangs up the phone, well, he didn't say no.

So you're saying there's a chance

but a good coach would at least have a decent year every once in a while... we're at the end of his THIRD YEAR as coach, and the two best players (if you could call them that) were recruited by Lebo -- Chubb and Sullivan... the guys he's brought in are boardline worthless, with a couple of exceptions. We still don't have a PG would can dribble or a decent big man.... and we don't shoot well at all and play crappy defense.

Look, I realize there are way more issues than coach, but good coaching shouldn't be an issue... we're paying Barbee 1.5 million for this (not to mention his staff)... it's totally unacceptable to be this bad at this point, IMO.

Barbee's main strength is recruiting and using his relationships in AAU to get good players. You don't hire a guy like that and then handcuff him. Is it really his fault that he's not a great x's and o's coach or the administration that hired him? Either way, I don't want him gone until after Jacobs is canned first.
