Williams is redshirting and is likely to move inside iirc.... similar to what Daniel has done.
Andrew played at the lowest levels of GA high school football, but he's a workout machine... has the potential to be very good. Thornton got injured, I believe.

Kerryon Johnson will be a running back or safety.

Johnson could do what Kenyon Drake did for Bama and line up all over the field

Sammie & Duke will be back next year IMO.

quote:I'm probably in the minority here, but I want him at safety. With Jovon Robinson, Racean Thomas and Peyton Barber at running back next year, plus when considering the ease of recruiting a running back to this system, it seems like it would be better for the team for him to make an impact at safety. A lot of team, like Florida State, wanted him at safety...and due to their great secondary players from recent years, I trust their judgement more than ours on defense.

I'd be shocked if Duke makes it back for another season. Once the draft boards start putting him at late first/early second round it will be all over.
Sammie I could see, it's still incredibly hard to turn down any amount of money after a) waiting three years and b) looking at risking your career a la Lattimore.
WR is the most replaceable position in the game, those guys have to get paid when they can.

Because Jacques Patrick fits the FSU offense significantly better than KJ does. On top of that they already have 2 backs that fit KJ's mold and are losing Karlos Williams who Patrick looks more like.

Safety going forward is the most logjammed of all positions with Ford, Matthews, Moncreif, Ruffin, Therezie and Roberts all returning next year and adding Colbert and Westry.
With Johnson's ball skills, Johnson may not be featured as a freshman but should be able to move into the Corey Grant role with the added dynamic of running routes out of the slot. This would eliminate the "scheme for Corey Grant" idea

Sammie has that interesting situation since he stands to benefit in the millions by coming back but also risking a heck of a lot. I would come back if I were him, especially considering the likely transition to a more pass happy O. Wouldn't blame him either way

fwiw, therezie is a senior... but he's not a safety anyway.
the outlook at safety does look better for next, especially if Matthews can come in and be a difference maker. I like Ford's potential there as well.... this is just his first year starting at DB.

I would assume Sammie would project higher than Duke. Mainly for issues of size and speed. I don't expect either to return.

In the latest WR big board I saw had Sammie at 4 and Duke 5

That is what I expected. I would be surprised if either returned.

Coates has been here four years... perfectly reasonable that he's ready to become a pro... and Duke is four years removed from high school I believe.

I still remember Gabe Wright committing to AU with a hat or something that alluded to him being the next Nick Fairley. What a joke that was and is.

No fricks given if they have eligibility left!!! Coates in particular has had a worse year this year than last. Some of that is on Duke because he got more balls thrown to him, but a lot of it is either injury or bad performance. Dude has dropped some balls this year he seemed to catch last year.
Personally, I think both could use another year at AU for "seasoning"...

Coates dropping the ball has more to do with his worse yea . Duke cahvht everything and Sammie had a sbitty drop rate . not surprised he got less targets

In fairness his career is just like NF minus the one great year.

So was "Nick who?" a Fairley reference or Saban? I was never totally sure.
