Tubs is in Auburn a lot with his son playing on the team. I could foresee the day when he takes over Pat Dyes office at the Athletic complex.

I think deep down, Auburn fans long for the days of Tuberville, where he'd rather cut off his own finger than allow the other team (or his own for that matter) score a point. Also, the upset wins were just as fun as the WTF losses. Don't remember any soul crushing seasons as bad as we've experienced in 2012 and this year

All of that being said, what kind of relationship do you this Tuberville and Gus have? Gus is arrogant and does appear the type to take advice but if he were Tuberville might be a good place to start? What would you want Gus to learn from Tubs

The biggest overriding point of that whole thing is football transformed. Tuberville is consistently giving up a ton of points now and he's done so for awhile. He did it at Texas Tech and he's doing it now at Cincy.

As far as the relationship between Tuberville and Malzahn, I doubt they have one. I'm sure they've said hello once or twice but that's the extent of it. Having said that, I do love this picture from yesterday.

BTW Tubs, it's fine to wear a navy blue shirt and maybe even one with an AU logo on it.. you have an excuse with your son on the team.

That this fan base has short term memory issue regarding success, but they'll never let failures go.

The only way that ever happens is for Pat Dye to die first. Would also need to catch Jacobs and a few others in bed with a dead hooker and or some farm animals.

It looks like Tubs stole Malzahn's playbook and left him a copy of Tubershell 101.

Edit: that would make an awesome fark using the scene from The Water Boy with the opposing coaches and the stolen playbook.

The only thing I miss about tubs is his defenses other than that the constant turnover at OC and DC got ridiculous.

Pretty significant though considering what's happened to it since he left.

You don't miss being competitive every single year?

Constant turnover and pretty constant success.

Everybody knows Tubs had his shortcomings but he was still a very good football coach who made Auburn a player more times than not in his tenure and his teams always had a chance.

He also built probably the best team Auburn has ever had in the modern era.

Like the other thread says he's easily the best coach we've had since Pat Dye.

Yet Tubbs won one sec championship in ten years while Gus has one in three... And tuberville had the benefit of a shitty Alabama.

Time has a way of making people forget all the bad stuff

People need to slow their roll regarding Tubs. The game in 2005 & now are completely different. It's comparing apples & oranges. His defenses now are as bad as ours. I miss the defenses that only gave up 10 points a game, but honestly no one is doing that anymore.

Nobody is seriously suggesting we bring back Tuberville, good lord.
