Montavious Arkinson gained 28 pounds and now weighs 211. That's a pretty big deal too.

Ya know it's funny that almost every, single, person who has either watched a lot of practice or has talked directly to a staffer has mentioned Atkinson in some capacity. Very anxious to see if he gets some run this year.

I'm hoping we run something similar to Carolina/Arizona. Heavy DL, 2 big LB, hybrid LB/S

Shaq Thompson and Deone Buchannan have been amazing in that hybrid LB/S role and really provide the necessary flexibility. The heavier DL protects against the "smaller" back 5

I'm a solid 170 myself (post morning shite, pre breakfast) so I know what I'm talking about when I'm discussing JFIII's weight. We're practically brothers, he and I.

The way some of these jagaloons argue about weight/height is ridiculous.

It wouldn't surprise me if JFIII was really 190 pounds. He looks closer to 180, but gaining weight is relatively easy if you eat right and workout a ton. He likely does both. They probably also have him on some type of meal plan like Alabama did AJ McCarron when he got on campus. He used to eat a ton of peanut butter every single day.

I wont doubt your wisdom on the physiology of young black male athletes. I'm just saying if y'all are under 200 pounds taking 5 pound shits its a good sign your sphincter has been tampered with. carry on.

Good weight? No it isn't. Unless JF3 has been shooting up some roids, it is extremely unlikely that he went from 174 to say 186-190 in his 6 months on campus while maintaining BF%

I truly believe the vast majority of these guys are on PEDs so it definitely is possible. You don't get 10-15lb of muscle in 6 months naturally if you are an experienced athlete with training. That isn't real.

a lb a week at most if eating perfectly and killing it at the gym.....that is the most......so yeah, 15 lbs of muscle is doable in six months.....unlikely, but doable

The QB that just transferred out of Florida is a good example... dude literally blew up his redshirt season... come to find out he wasn't exactly clean

I certainly hope they are. I would hate to be the only guy not cheating.

There is no person who has been part of S&C programs for multiple years that can naturally gain a pound a week of 90% muscle/lean body mass. Even a genetically gifted beginner who eats/lifts perfectly would be maxing out muscle growth to put on 15lb in 6 months.

I could definitely be open to the JF3 weight gain is due to chugging creatine shakes, eating a super sodium enriched diet and higher carb intake.

Thank you. I was flamed a while back on AUFAMILY for saying that some of the players were juicing. I'm 21 & have friends playing D1 ball....college football players take steriods. You're an idiot if you think other wise.

Not all are juicing but most of the elite ones do. Sort of a prerequisite to play at the level. Even "genetic freaks" aren't able to get as big as some players at 11-12% BF

With the exceptions of brand new freshmen, if a guy gains 2+LB/month of weight he either got fatter or is juicing

Of note

quote:

But when it came time for Montravius Adams to cut calories in order to lose weight this summer, it was a more savory item that was the toughest to give up.
“Probably rotel dip,” said Adams, who set a goal of playing between 290 and 295 pounds his senior season. Adams said he’s dropping the weight in order to increase his quickness.

Not being privy to their true BF% it is hard to know how much JF3 needed to add just to have a little padding. The JUCO stuff I saw made him look very lean and if he added a little fat with good muscle growth may make him a more capable player. Their is big science going on at the D1 schools and the trainers are monitoring everything to see how an athlete performs at different weight and BF levels.

As long as he doesn't end up stuck in the middle like Gabe Wright where he lost weight, gained minimum speed, and lost strength. But what do I know, I went to Bama for undergrad.
