Yea, but who gives a shite about people from lubbuck? Also I had completely forgotten this happened.

Still don't care.

His buyout was paid in full when he resigned.
You spelled "was fired" wrong.

I actually think he did resign. But i think he had a clause in his contract that prevented any 'interference' and someone reached out to another coach, thus breaking his contract on our end. So he could walk away and still get paid.
That may be way off, it's pretty clear that my tubby knowledge (and level of caring one bit) doesn't extend past when he stopped being our coach.

My finest memory of Tubbs was 2008 when Mc hit the corner of the enzone to make it 36-0 final. The look on his face when the reciever caught the ball was priceless.

Tubbs was a good coach, for sure - especially on the defensive side of the football. His inability to recruit at an elite level kept Auburn from truly taking advantage of Alabama's wander through the wilderness, IMO, and dominating the SEC West.

He did get curbed stomped by southern cal those few years though.
We did in the second game, but the first game was very close. USC took the lead with about a minute and a half left in the game.
That second game that was at Auburn was one of the most miserable games I've ever been to, partly because of the game and partly because I was about as hungover as I'd ever been and sitting with the sun in my eyes and it was about 90 degrees. I think I stared at my feet trying not to throw up for about half the game.

It's amazing how quickly the Auburn faithful turned on him when Daddy put them back in their place. Then again, that's what Auburn people will do.

You can't say this without mentioning that we fired a coach 2 years removed from a national title.

First off, WGAS?
Second, There is nothing about Tommy Tuberville that would ever make me think of him other than the way I think of Christian Laettner. The fingers after the games, wearing 6 in a row t shirts a Disney like a 5 year old, the victory laps after Iron Bowls. Chiz was classy, I like Malzahn too. Tubs was a 1st class a-hole
NOTHING, nothing in this world has been a better moment the last 10 years than a minute and half left in the 08 IB and Bama slinging one deep when the game was already 29-0. Everybody sitting in my section was saying slap one more in his face and when GMAC dropped back and let her fly, ....awesome moment to see Tuberville humbled in such a humiliating fashion. Everyone knows we ran that up on Tuberville and "we're comin after yo butt speech" David Housel, but to Tuberville, You can't deny, he had that one coming.

He may have "resigned" in the sense that AU allowed him to save face and claim he "resigned". However, there is no way he was going to survive the direction he was on, a 5-7 season, and a 36-0 beatdown at the hands of his biggest rival.

I get the bama sentiments towards Tubbs, but it was fun seeing him put it your arse and making it wiggle for a few years.
