My guess is that assumes we put together a competitive counter offer.
I wish they would mandate you couldn’t talk to the players until they’re in the portal. I’m all for free agency, but Tampering beforehand sucks.
Bruce even stated if he found his coaches doing it, they would be fired on the spot.

How is this not already a rule?

It is a rule but nothing stops a staffer talking to a former high school coach, AAU coach, uncle…
Also some players in college have agents.

I’m pretty sure Thorne has an agent.

This would be a good time to create a new basketball thread if you ask me.
nyc needs to do it and chronicle the new transfers to our program.

It is a better job. Similar to how Auburn is a better job than Ole Miss in spite of Ole Miss being the better team/program currently.

That record just posted says otherwise. Muss and their whole roster ditching them also says they don't see it that way either.
Edit-- And now Beard turned them down.

It's pretty myopic to only look at the past five years, and the success we've had under Bruce, as the determining factors for comparing the quality of the two jobs. What was our overall record prior to Bruce's tenure? How many coaches out there have both the balls, and more importantly the ability, to take control of a program that was truly a bottom dweller and turn it into a perennial conference contender in what is now one of the deepest conferences? I'm not saying that Arkansas is in a better position at this exact moment, but historically speaking it probably is a more attractive head coaching opportunity. We really lucked into getting Bruce, and without his salesmanship, coaching ability, and work ethic we would likely still be rotating through the Barbees and Lebos of the basketball world. Auburn is a football school, through and through. It took years and years of hard work on the part of Bruce and his staff to get our basketball program to where it is now. How many coaches out there are looking to put in that kind of effort over the long term? I think staying relevant long-term, especially at a place like Auburn, is a battle a lot of the top guys are going to likely shy from.

What if I told you in April 2019 that over the next 5 years a team from the state of Alabama would make 3 sweet 16s, win two regular season SEC Championships, two SEC tournaments Championships, make a Final Four, and be on the brink of a National Championship and that team wasn’t Auburn.
It’s amazing what Bruce Pearl has allowed to happen under his watch.

Stop this inane melt. Bruce has us as a top 15 team in the country every year.

We’ve made 1 Sweet 16 in a decade. He had something special he could’ve built at Auburn but he got complacent.
