And since we're on the subject of Bama, they have turned up the heat in the recruitment of Diante Wood and it seems they have made up some ground on us. His commitment might not be as imminent as it once was and it looks like it'll be a battle. I hope our staff didn't drop the ball with him and i hope he didn't hold out on us to get recruited by them.

They will be wing heavy next year with Ingram, Sexton and Petty, susceptible down low.

Don't forget Braxton key is probably their stretch 4 w/ Giddens/Hall splitting at the 5. That is a significant dropoff in the paint

I would've been beyond thrilled to sign him in our class.

I imagine Rig agrees with this. Rig's point was that his play style will require him to take a beating inside. As an extremely skinny FR, that probably will require a transition period

I've seen him 5 or 6 times and agree with this. Only knock is he can get lazy or appears to lack motivation at times.

Totally agree.. and he was the most talented on a team of talented players. They were the best team in Alabama this year. Sacred Heart beat Mountain Brook, Jemison beat Sacred Heart. All of them won state.
The reason he became lazy is because of the level of competition but he won't have that problem in the SEC.

obvious Lee early, but Auburn is ranked #2 in the 2018 recruiting cycle....i think we have the only committed 5* right now so that is why.

Looking at team recruiting rankings for basketball can be really misleading given roster turnover/how team rank is calculated. You can't just fit recruiting rankings neatly into a talent gauge for different teams

For example

Villanova Rankings
2013- #37
2014- #24
2015- #33
2016- #31

Current Roster from those recruiting classes

5* - 2
Top 100 - 6
4*+ - 9

Syracuse

2013- #6
2014- #24
2015- #8
2016- #15

Current Roster from those classes

5* - 0
Top100 - 5
4*+ - 5

For example, since 2014 no team other than UK in the SEC has recruited better than AU.

2014: #6 in SEC
2015: #4 in SEC
2016: #3 in SEC
2017: #7 in SEC

By our standards we are recruiting at a historical level, but the #AlternativeFacts about just how good that recruiting has been is getting out of hand.

On a HS recruiting only basis, we have been significantly worse than that too. People are confusing "Incredible recruiting for Auburn" as "Incredible recruiting"

Even next year we will only have two top 50 recruits on our entire roster

For comparison, Kentucky will have 5-6 top 25 recruits in next years class

What site you using?

Heron
Wiley
Okeke (247 composite)
Mitchell #52

Purifoy wasn't far off either, mid 60's

Yup. People fail to realize that Pearl had to spend the first 2 years essentially rebuilding the roster with transfers just to be able to field a team

ESPN whose BBall recruiting is easily the best (only one they do well). 247 composite is a compilation of a lot of shitty rankings. Mitchell/Okeke were both close but not in there.

The bigger point though is that the only teams that win w freshman are those who recruit "elite" talent (i.e. lotto talent)

Our talent is good, but not elite. Many of them would be great FR rotational player addition for a lot of NCAAT teams, but they aren't start as FR good

Teams like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC that win with freshmen also have one and done lotto picks, but more importantly those programs also have very good 4 year type players to keep the program stable and help guide the young guys.

Just found out Diante Wood will be playing for the Georgia Stars this summer. Should be good news for us since he'll be playing with Mitchell and Okeke, and a few other AU prospects.

It contradicts previous twitter posts by certain players about a week ago, although they could've been speculating.. But it is totally legit.

Chuma Okeke winning Mr. Basketball is big time..

I wish Pearl was savage enough to hire Michael Porter Sr, father of #1 recruit this yr and top 2018 recruit year after.

I'm not above buying #1 players

Looks like Michael Porter will commit to Mizzou w his fathers hiring on their staff.

Mizzou will be an interesting team next year. Return nearly their entire team + add NBA lotto lock type talent.
