We already knew this but Carlton Davis is amazing. He was asked to play man against a quick slant, and although the receiver got a little separation he was able to close and bat the ball away cleanly, against a quick slant, dude's incredible.
Pettway had 21 touches 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter and was not gassed at all. Just an interesting look into Pettway's ability and Lashlee's playcalling.
Need more Chandler Cox and Ryan Davis in the short passing game as a way to spell the run game if need be.
Tre Williams is a few adjustments away from being the linebacker we thought we were getting when he committed. He's good just a couple steps away from great.
The route tree for receivers has really opened up since Rhett took over.
The number of plays we run is still too limited imo. Given Rhett did add some more wrinkles but this O seems so diluted compared to the 09 and 10 offenses.
Javaris Davis is a player too, in coverage and run support.
I want to believe in this offense but there's still alot of question marks, at the same time though, I think the coaches are holding alot back. We haven't seen this offense at full power yet.
Just a few bullet points I noticed during the rewatching. Cut it off at halftime though considering nothing considerable happened in the second half.

I was looking at Ferg's film room and one thing that's really helped us is less drops in the last three games. I think we had 8 drops the first three games and 3 in the last three games.
Also, our freshman WRs are our most reliable when it comes to catches and Marcus Davis (surprisingly to me) is our least reliable WR this year.

For sure, Kodi Burns might be a stud coach in the making.

Need to get more touches for Cam Martin too. He has good hands. RB screens, wheel routes, etc.

I agree, seems like everytime we run the wheel it's a guaranteed explosive play.

If Rhett leaves, I wonder if we make Herb/Kodi Co-OC and just hire a new QB coach

I think first down improvement is the primary reason for the offensive turnaround. It has always been the key to our offense.

Turns out Marcus Davis has had a pretty serious hand injury the first half of the season... Supposedly he's good to go now. Probably explains the drops and lack of playing time the first half of the year.

The biggest thing that popped out to me was if Pettway was quicker he would have broke about 3 long tds.
No knock on him he's great at what he does but we need that thunder / lightning combo.

My immediate reaction would be disappointment if that happened. Who would be the playcaller? Herb?

If Pettway's legs are fresh he's surprisingly quick for 240 lbs. One of my favorite moments from this season is watching the wrecking ball bounce it outside and almost take it to the house from 30 yards out against Miss St. Pettway and Kerryon are on their ways to being AU legends.
