Decatur has a pretty big reputation whether unfair or not. It's probably not as dangerous as the Holmes Ave or North Parkway and University Dr areas in Huntsville.

When I was young I was part of a gang initiation in N Huntsville. They had to jump a white guy and I was the lucky winner. frickers knocked me out before I could tell them about my Kenyan heritage.

I heard there was a lot of crime in Decatur too. Supposdly, a lot of snow cones were stolen at point mallard.....

Leaving a girls basketball game at Johnson HS with my girlfriend. I got shoved from behind. When I got up this 1guy was standing in front of me asking if I wanted some. I stepped to him and started to throw a punch and the next thing I knew my coach was kneeling next to me asking if I was ok. My girlfriend said there was about 15 of them and that they took turns kicking me for about 3 minutes before coach ran them off.

I went to basketball practice the next day so they didn't hurt me that bad. The only lasting effect it had is I'm pretty easily spooked when someone sneaks up on me from behind and for some reason I weep uncontrollably at the sight of a pair of BK's.
