He may have put on too much weight in too short of a time period, but it's not the weight that is the problem. The lack of adaptation to his new body weight may be though.

Holy hell. Ok. Next time I will be sure to explain in great detail the reason (which everyone but you seem to infer from the OP) specially so you will not get your panties in a wad. Happy now?

bullrushing may be the only weapon he has in his arsenal right now.

I think this was more of the problem. Dude is really strong but in the SEC you have to have more than that to be successful. Hopefully a year of work will help him greatly. Unlike Arden Key, we asked him to do everything while all they asked Key was to rush the passer.

That's something I am happy about with this DL class. We need them to contribute but with Adams & Lawson coming back they don't have to THE guy right away and can instead fulfill a certain niche until they develop. Or at least that's what I hope

Are you too obtuse to understand that there are two independent issues at hand regarding weight as an issue and adaptation to body weight as an issue? You said yourself that an 280 pound DE is an "outlier," so it's pretty clear which issue you were harping on.

QB: JF3 Gus didn't bring him here from JUCO to sit the bench.
RB: Jovon
FB: I wish it would be Cox, but I believe it will be Pettway
WR: Slayton
WR: Smith
WR: NCM or Davis
TE: Harris
LT: Smith
LG: Kozan
C: Golson
RG: Horton
RT: James

DE: Lawson
DE: Cowart
DT: Adams
DT: Russell
OLB: Williams
OLB: James
MLB: The Illinois Grad Transfer
CB: Davis
CB: Dean
FS: Ford
SS: Roberts

Guys, I don't understand all of you projecting Leff to start at LT. He got WORKED last year. We better hope and pray he isn't the one protecting our QBs blind side. It would get ugly.

That was Joey not Brannigan. Regardless it is factually correct that 4-3 DEs in the NFL that are 280+ are outliers

Of the 14 NFL teams that run a 4-3, the average weight of their DEs is only 275+ for 3 teams. 7 teams have an avg DE <270lb

No it was Brannigan. He went on a spill about Mike Singletary or something. And according to the link you provided, the only outlier I saw was that the Giant's average DE weighs 292. It said the average was 269 but the deviation to 280 is obviously not that great.

Brannigan simply said giving an outlier like Julius Peppers as an example is not a good argument which is right.

While the average is 269, you don't see too many of the good pass rush 4-3ends above 270.

270 is just one off the average. Just stop.

Greg Hardy, Charles Johnson, Kony Ealy all weigh over 275. That's just from my knowledge of the Panthers. Are they all outliers?
