Does anyone else feel like it's extremely hard to have an elite defense while also having an excellent offense? Idk what it is, but it has always appeared that way to me. Maybe because the offense gets all the attention, or the D is on the field more?....

Nope. Nobody else has ever felt like that.

Dude, just giving you a hard time because that has been the prevailing sentiment ever since we hired Malzahn as an OC

People have been harping on that since 2009.

Probably because in order to be great on one side of the ball you have to put more recruits and effort into that side. The ones who are great on one side and decent on the other are usually because they luck up and find a few stars on the other side of the ball at the same time.

Plus coaches gear the other side of the ball just to help out the other. Like just managing the clock on offense if you have a great defense.

I know man, no worries.

It makes me wonder even if we hired a great DC, say Muschamp, if he could bring our D to the caliber you would expect from him because of that idea

Bama's offense was pretty good and consistent in 2010, 2011, 2012. Not oregon level but their offense/defense quality mix was better than our current offense/defense quality mix. I don't think its impossible to have both a good defense and good offense.

Don't think it'd be likely. Even if he were hired, Gus won't tolerate all the cursing and the style of coaching that Muschamp brings.
