Will we finally have that wide open win we haven't had yet?

Will San Jose State push us to our limits?

Will there be weeping and gnashing of teeth regardless?

Discuss.

Do we call them SJS?

They beat UNH 43-14
Lost to Air Force 37 16 (AF record is 2 wins, one loss to MSU
Lost to Oregon State 35-21 (Oregon State record is 2 w, 2 l)
Beat Fresno State 49-23 (Fresno record 1 win, 3 losses)

I am assuming their starter qb will be senior qb Joe Gray.

His stats do not indicate he is a running threat. He has a high completion percentage, but most passes appear less than nine yards. He has also had 7 sacks this season.

I think a senior named Tyler Ervin is there main rb. He averages 6.7 yards per carry and is a threat as a catcher as well.

I say we win by 10 points.

45-17

Snowboard Cam gets into the groove and gains confidence. JJ plays in the 4th :/

Defense continues to gain confidence. After a solid second half performance against MSU

You really think we can put up 45 in 60 minutes? Real question...

Unless Gus continues to shite the bed with play calling, and assuming White starts, there is no reason we shouldn't. I'd say SW would've been good for 14 more points than JJ and his 3 INTS vs UL.

Air Force scored 37 on SJS. Service academies have weight limits of 221... You guys are putting way too much stock in their game against a terrible Fresno State team.

Everyone here better put up their life savings for San Jose to beat the spread. There's no way AU covers.

Will AU win? Maybe. Ok, probably. But it won't be pretty. If it takes AU going into OT to beat an FCS school, do you really think they are going to wipe the floor with an FBS mid-major?

lul wut? Not sure where you got that info. A quick check of Air Force's roster shows that their linemen are all well over 221.

Correct. Service academies have to follow the active duty regulations for max weight limit based on height, as used in our fitness tests. They have a height/weight chart for males/females, and if you are over the weight listed for your height, they wrap a tape measure around your waist and again around your neck, take the ratio and come up with a body fat percentage. If you are over 22% body fat as a male, you fail.

I deal with this shite twice a year and it is annoying as frick. I am 5'9 and 190lb, workout all the time but am over the 186lb limit so I have to get taped and they say I am 16% body fat which is completely false.

San Jose State is no Jacksonville State. Top tier FCS schools are easily better than most mid major FBS teams. Plenty of P5 schools would struggle with JSU. That game was mostly JJ killing our offense which kept them on offense eating the clock and our defense on the field getting worn out.

We have a new QB and a bunch of new guys playing breathing life into our D, so I'm not sure why you think the same struggles from JSU would apply to SJSU. Most of our issues we've seen so far are fixable and were well on their well to be repaired against MSU. JJ basically killed us against JSU, which brought down everybody's confidence and got us blown out by LSU. This weekend we had some early mistakes by guys with little to no experience that got better as the game went on, but what killed us was Gus's play calling inside the 10. We could have easily won that game. The problems we saw against MSU are ones that are likely to be ironed out as the season goes and not ones that will heavily persist.

Step back from the cliff, we're not dead in the water just yet.

I guess they can bulk up during their time on campus but I got that skimming over an article about the difficulty recruiting at service academies. They have to meet certain weight restrictions at the time they enroll and the time they graduate. So they can't bulk up too much because they have to lose it all when they're done playing.

LINK

quote:

Height and weight requirements. They differ slightly by academy, but at Air Force, a 6'4 applicant cannot weigh more than 221 pounds for admission -- and must also not weigh more than that upon graduation. In some cases at the academies, athletes can be over the height or weight limits but must still adhere to stringent body fat restrictions. This makes recruiting offensive linemen very difficult. "I'd love to have a bunch of 320-pound guys with good feet," Calhoun said. "We've never had a 285-pound kid, which is very small for a Division I offensive lineman. We usually average 255 pounds with our offensive line."

I think the line is decent and I wouldn't bet again us. Some of these mid majors are bad and how bad we beat them comes down to motivation and game plan.

Our coaches and players have something to prove. We are off after this weekend. Coaches are going to want to get White some practice with downfield routes and timing (we know we can run). Defensive players have lots to prove and want to keep or get back their starting jobs.

I do not think this will be your typical go through the motions against a cupcake. Would not take the points here.

Try being usmc where it's 18 %, and have your command shite on you when you make 17% with an "appearance program", even though you take meds that cause weight gain and bloated appearance :).

Eta:: the tape method is shite, too. Def need a better way to get bmi

I'm an LT with the Seabees so we're around USMC a lot. I'm actually visiting a CPT with the 9th ESB tomorrow here in PI.

We have to have our hair in their regs, setup a defensive FOB, sent out patrols, etc and the USMC teaches us. I was a ship guy first so there's some fat fricks in the Fleet. But we try to emulate USMC standards because theyre better and fat people get ripped on, fair or not. They just changed it to 2 PRT failures in 3 years from 3 in 4 so that's good.

I got water dunked before my BMI and was 9%. BMI is awful. No way to bulk either at any point in the year.

SJST wise, I think we need to ground pound them until up by 17+ then let White air it out. This team is either gonna flop its dick on the table and show them whats up or they're going to continue to be pussys on offense when shite doesn't go right. I'm thinking a 28-13 game.

Here is another thing, when the coaches tell the players they better be ready to play or SJS will win, the players will listen after the JSU embarrassment.

The more I think about it, the better I like AU minus the points.
