Fair comparison?

Two guys with tons of athletic and football ability. Two guys that are lethal in space. Two guys that were highly touted out of high school. Two guys that have incredible hands for running backs. However, two guys that fumble way, way too much... (lets ignore the size differential)

Do you think Gus Malzahn will use Roc Thomas like he did Mario Fannin in 2009?

I think Mario was better. He did contribute at times. At this point, Roc has done nothing.

I hated Marios slick hands but when he didnt fumble, he played well.

At this point Mario is better, Roc has been a dud so far.

1 thing Mario Fannin did exceptionally well was pass protect. That mf'er straight up mollywhopped oncoming rushers. Had zero fear of sticking his facemask into a DE or LBs chest.

He had about 500 yards from scrimmage last year in a reserve role. Seems to be progressing and making progress toward more playing time.

He can be a very productive and dangerous player in an offense that works better

No shite. Summer 2010 I predicted that AU would go undefeated on the back of a Heisman winner. I just thought the Heisman winner would be Fannin.

And I don't think it's a good comparison. Roc's fumbling issues are overstated IMO because of the fear of having another Fumblin Fannin. And they're two completely different types of athletes.

Absolutely agree. Roc is an absolute stud with the ball in his hands. We just have to put him in situations that better suit his skillset. I love what they're trying to do with him now.

We have never seen him perform at that level. He made a few good runs and a bunch of runs where he spun his way into trouble. We have seen nothing to call him a "absolute stud"

I think people are also looking too much into his lack of playing time so far.

2014 - of course a true freshman isn't going to get a ton of time with an established Senior taking the load

2015 - he already had the stigma of fumbling (mostly because of the high profile one at the start of the 2014 Iron Bowl IMO) and with the offense sputtering the way it was of course Gus had to play it safe and go with the workhorse type back in Barber. We didn't have enough wiggle room to test out an unknown quantity that has a more homerun or bust type skill set

Hasn't the Roc fumbling thing been disproven? I believe he's only lost 1 fumble. Someone did a breakdown on twitterz I believe.

No. It was proven. I remember being in an argument on here and went through and looking at the number of fumbles he's had and how many carries he's had.

It was a long time ago so I don't remember the numbers but i do remember they weren't good.

Go look up the numbers then. Auburn gives you the fumbles stat and the carries stat

Mario was the victim of a shoulder injury. He then would carry the ball in the wrong hand. At this point in their careers, ,MARIO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ROC
