4. Stop recruiting midget DB's.

Our best CBs every year normally are more than likely undersized by your standards. Also, we ar edefinitely going back to undersized guys

First we must know what he means by midget.

I want to see us stop third and long consistently. I think everything will follow after that improvement.
3rd down wasn't really a problem with this years defense. 1st, 2nd, & 4th down were all significantly worse.

The real problem is that teams averaged 6.2 yards on 1st down & 5.5 yards on second down. We couldn't even get teams to 3rd down when you are giving up 11.7 yards on the first two downs on average.

Aggressiveness. Maybe it was just me, but watching Oregon's defense....their guys seemed to go attack the ball carrier, rather than standing there and waiting for the guy to come to them. Great tackling.

20 ppg would be awesome, and is just one shutout too much to ask?

Yeah pretty much sucked everywhere on D. I just always hated seeing us give up 3 and 8 or more almost every time.

I think a 10% improvement overall would be excellent. That would take is down to low 30s on 3rd down conversion and low 20s in ppg.

We should have an improved pass rush which should help 3rd/4th downs considerably. Every Power 5 conference QB should be able to get a 1st down when they are given an hour in the pocket

Again, this isn't close to true. Auburn's 3rd down defense was actually pretty good.

For comparison sake...
3rd & 7+
MSU: 17.8% (19/107)
Missouri: 19.3% (21/109)
LSU: 20.9% (23/110)
Ole Miss: 21.6% (21/97)
UT: 21.6% (22/102)
Auburn: 25% (23/92)
UF: 25% (24/96)
Alabama: 32% (40/125)

Auburn was already at 35.75% on 3rd down conversions which was good enough for 26th in the country.

This!! Just play with some dang toughness! Tired of seeing our LB'S trying to run around blocks and letting the RB run right by them

My bad misread first post. I was thinking 62 was rank on 3rd down.

To not give a ton of yards to our OC teams, and not get destroyed by average O's.
