1. Chris Petersen
2. Gary Patterson
3. James Franklin
4. Jimbo Fisher
5. Bobby Petrino

James Franklin is intriguing. He is energetic and his team generally seems well coached and prepared (aside from the AU game this year). 8 wins at Vandy is a huge accomplishment.

I think he would be a good hire and I've been surprised there is not more talk about him. I had him on my top 5.

He had success over several years at Southern Miss, posting a winning season every year he was there and a conference USA championship his last year. Without him, they went 0-12 this year. At UNC he gave them their first winning season in the ACC in over a decade. I think he was the OC for a few years at Florida and he is originally from Texas, so he has some ties to the South.

Since we don't have to be realistic, I'm gonna throw in the coach I want. Bobby Saban.

I'm all for a horndog, a-hole type coach, who would field a high octane offense, with a lights out defense. That short bastard can call plays while cruising the sidelines on his Harley. Half time adjustments will consist of switching from a blonde to a brunette bimbo. He will be making that arse quit on the field and in the bedroom.

That's really it. Petrino is risking a shitstorm, but what the hell. Go for it.

I was being facetious.

fa·ce·tious [fuh-see-shuh?s] adjective
1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous: a facetious person.

With all the news that it may be Smart, I'm bumping this thread. Notice how Smart is #8 on the list (though I'm not sure how much that may have changed since the OP last updated).
