Our offense, was the game called differently play wise or did the same play card get pit to use and atm unable to defend?

The first half was all tempo. We ran plays we haven't run all year. It was different from anything I've seen us do all year. The second half we went into Tubbershell and didn't do dick.

It really was a pretty typical offensive game for us. When we went tempo we had success and we were able to punch a couple in early. After that we slowed down rammed it up the middle and kicked FGs for the last 3 quarters. The biggest difference is that A&M defense is still so soft our run game was effective all game until we got inside the 10.

If Gus had gone tempo all game and run a couple to the outside or QB keeps in the zone read inside the 10 we would have won going away.

it was different than the last few games. We lived with our running game, which is why we won the game, and we did not throw 25 passes down the field into triple coverage.

It was vanilla which is what we needed and we won the game.

JOVON was a difference maker. His fresh legs and vision really made the run game more than 4 yards and a cloud of dust. Barber is a man and I like his toughness, but JR is a more complete back.

Most passes were, quick, short routes like slants, bubbles, back into flat. JJ did not force the ball into coverage over and over. He had one bad miss in the first half where he had KJ21 wide open for a first down on a sneak the H back out to the flat, but he threw it well over his head. Probably would have gained 10+ yards- certain first down.

It looked like we ran more "counter" type runs. Buck sweep was not emphasized.

Ran some jet sweeps and even an orbit reverse.

Some of both. We used our basic plays, with a few easy passes like the slant.

We had a good game plan we limit our weaknesses while exposing theirs.

Plus A&M sucks, so we can run on them.

Agree. Jovon was busting long runs. They had to devote bodies to stop him, resulting in open WRs.

Not to take anything away from our execution, but A&M's defense looked like ours last year. We pushed them around a lot and they tackled very, very poorly.

We did well on our first two drives because they were scripted. Once we got a two score lead, field goal Gus showed up and shut down the offense

I agree, but that was only possible because A&M is so soft defensively.

I don't understand why JJ doesn't run more. Our Qb's pretty much suck at the zone read compared to cam and nick.

It almost seems like we aren't teaching it. Maybe Gus sand bags 40% of his offense until Alabama game?

Most possessions are stopped on penalties or dropped passes lately. I fully expect us to beat UGA this week. I also expect us to take bama in the 4th with a chance to win. We seem to be improving - except for the read zone.

I know we picked up good chunks of yardage several times on the play that is the fake jet sweep going left to right, and then the guard pulls and the running back goes left.

I agree with most here. It seems we slow way down after we get through the scripted series which is concerning. I will say tho that I didn't find playcalling in the redzone as bad this week we just had some poor execution & bad luck. Before that A&M timeout, Ray was about to be wide open. Louis drops a sure first down at 3 that would have given us 3 new downs to score on. Also we missed a blitzing LB on a power play that Jovon would have walked in on had someone got a piece of him. Just seemed like we were always one missed assignment away from scoring

JJ will walk into for a TD if he would keep the ball down there. I am thinking there isn't much reading going on & they are just called runs. We need to bring that back just to give our backs a chance to make plays as in the redzone the safeties are blitzing hard from outside & guys are getting cut down before they can get back to line

Overall though I am happy to see an offense & defense returning to the plains. We aren't there yet if we want to get back to Atlanta but seeing improvement & more consistency across the board. Hoping this weekend our redzone offense finally gets over the hump & we put 40+ up on someone

Neither does White, or at least they aren't allowed to, it's one of the reasons we've struggled inside the 5.

Remember the Louisville game opening drive, JJ pulled it out and walked it. Both QBs have had opportunities to do the same in other games and have not kept it and we get stonewalled trying to run it up the middle.
