There is not a very good chance that NM won't play.

ETA: Doesn't know who would play if NM doesn't. Feels like JW and JJ are ready to play if need be.

After reading this thread, I don't know what to believe. Am I the only one confused now?

All you need to know is Gus said Marshall will most likely play.

He needs to play. He needs some serious practice with his passing game in a game setting.

This, exactly. Even if his leg isn't hurt, he still needs a game like this to get his pass on.

And this isn't the Chizik era so this is likely to be true

If NM is "probable" for w Carolina, he is certainly ok for aTm so lets all wipe the blood from our vaginas. Everything's ok

Once we are up by 28 in the 3rd, Wallace will come in.

Not sure who would start between JJ and Wallace if Nick can't go.

If Nick will be back for sure by aTm (ie. no structural damage to the knee) then it is a no brainer, JW starts and KF is the back up.

I still think NM plays some on Saturday.

If NM does not play, there is no reason why Wallace cannot take all the reps and do just fine against WCU. They are no different than Alabama St and he had no issue with them.

Even if Nick can't play against TAMU, I still say play JW. Their run defense is shite, and most likely what we'd be doing anyways gameplan wise is a steady dose of RB to kill the TOP.

Now, if this is something that is a season long, nagging injury...maybe look at burning the redshirt.

But as of right now, we don't need a healthy Nick Marshall for another 23 days.

Agreed, if Au can win easily against WCU with a back up, no need to burn a red shirt.

You sure as hell dont want to burn a red shirt and throw that kid into the fire at Kyle Field. Wallace would be better suited for A&M. If anything, he has at least played in front of a big crowd before.

After that is Fl Atl. Wallace could beat them as well.

Realistically if NM needs time to heal, he can get it the next three weeks and be ready and healthy for the brutal November.

There could be a reason why JJ should take the snaps. If NM's injury is worse than stated, or should that injury become worse as the season progresses. Wallace is not the guy to take over should any of that be true or happen. JJ would be the next one to come in and Western Carolina would be a perfect game for JJ to get into.

With that said only NM, the Dr., and Gus know what they are facing, and they will make the choice.

Wallace is a band-aid and can be used accordingly.

Both Wallace and JJ would go 2-1 the next three weeks.

If NM injury is bad enough to go past that, then I could see the reason to go with JJ and get him ready for the tough November slate and for a QB battle next spring.

If it is not, wallace can play his band-aid part and we can keep JJ's redshirt in tact.

Time will tell. I see a long 48 hours in front of us.

Not ability...time in front of a big crowd as stated.

NM is the only QB that can beat A&M.

You disagree that he has played in front of a big crowd? Or that he can beat WCU and Fl Atl.

No of course not stop being obtuse park.

I said under the circumstances I described JJ would be the better choice and should play over Wallace. I don't give a damn if he has played in front of big crowds if it is a loss you even concede should Wallace play. That really makes sense.

If NM just needs an extra week, I am all for JJ keeping his RS. I am not as hard lined as you about the RS staying on. So that is why I kindly disagree. Sorry that is difficult for you to grasp this morning.
