Marshall is just trying to get completions and keep the offense moving. He's no longer trying to make the absolute perfect pass and risk overthrowing his WRs. He knows his WRs have the talent to win the one on ones with most DBs. Will he ever be Drew Brees, no way. But anyone who didn't just casually watch the SJSU game while drinking beer could watch that game and see a wildly different and better Nick Marshall than what we saw in 2013.

Nick has thrown one ball that was interceptable this year and has yet to air mail one 5 yards over a wide open reciever.

AU fans have always needed something to complain about...it appears to be Nick this season.

You forgot about the defense.

It seems some would rather play great defense and lose (2008) than play winning defense.

Yeah that one baffles me.

Scoring defense is the only stat that matters on that side of the ball and we were good last season and are better this season.

I think this is an exaggeration. .. But I'm not going to go back and watch the games to cite specifics

Its not. He has only played in 4 quarters and thrown 25 passes so its not that much game watching.

The interceptable ball was in the 3rd Q to Melvin Ray.

Not exactly true. That one to Duke almost went into the first row.

ETA I think Nick has improved some. He still has a long way to go to be considered a reliable passer, IMO.

Agreed, nice post. He's never going to be a John Elway, but the dude is definitely starting to look comfortable back there going through his progressions. If he keeps improving every week, we are in for a great season. Malzahn is one of the best in the business... there is a reason he has Marshall in the game.

Nick has improved slightly and has no touch. Til he is gone we will have a poor short passing game. But he runs the read option so well we don't need a short passing game.

I will reserve commenting fully until I go back and review the games. Based on what I watched during the game I saw it differently than what you are describing overall, but that doesn't mean I didn't see it incorrectly.

I will say this though. I am good with Nick as our starter and not calling for him to be replaced. He led the team last year to a SEC Championship and to the BCS game. I do trust Malzahn's decision and don't have the expertise to suggest otherwise.

Ricardo Lewis was dropping balls all night. I was at the game. Had to have dropped at least 3 passes.

I've always wondered why the QBs keep throwing it to him. He is the Jake Holland of WRs except more athletic

To call someone a "moron" because they don't agree with you is utter nonsense. You can pick individual passes and try to prove your point, but NM going 10-19 against SJSU is proof, and a large enough sample size, to say he is a below average passer. Why some of you get so rustled when opposite opinions are expressed is funny. This isn't AE, and it will never be. Go back to AUfamily if you don't want actual disscussion about what is happening with our football team.

3 of those 9 passes were drops by WRs.

13 of 19 is a 68% completion percentage.

And one of his TD passes was a redo to Duke when he missed the same route the play before. He won't get second chances against teams with a pulse. Again, you need to look at larger sample sizes, and not single passes.

No it wasnt. Duke was down at the 3 and CAP ran it in on 4th down the next play.

Nick only has one TD throw this season bec sammie dropped on against Arky. It was the last throw of the game.
