I'm with TnM on this one.

Btw, what part of Miami do you live in? Just moved to Pembroke.

Not far. Golden Isles. Not in one of the super expensive homes, but a condo on the intracoastal on the other side of collins across from the beach.

Couple of exits south (Ives Dairy or Hallandale) and east of Pembroke. And speaking of that, I was at that Hooters in Pembroke for the Fins game this afternoon.

Check out brewsters room a little ways past hooters, I like it a lot more. Plus, it's close enough I can stumble home. I tested this after the MSU game

I'm not going to be critical of the coaches decision to burn the RS, but I do not want Nick out for 1 rep or 1 series unless he is hurt or needs a blow or we have the game well in hand.

I am. How do you burn his redshirt if he's not going to get more than a snap or two a game, which he shouldn't if Marshall keeps playing like he's playing (and hopefully gets better). Once again, we didn't need him to beat Western Carolina. Heck, we could've done direct snaps to Corey Grant all game and won that game.

I'm starting to think Gus wasn't sure about Marshall being "the guy" all season, but if he progresses and turns into one of the league's better QBs by the end of the season and heading into next year, we can redshirt Jeremy next year when Marshall's a senior.

But you don't burn the redshirt on your future to beat a I-AA team. Period.

Never heard of that and I know may way around every sports bar from lauderdale to Miami (or pretty close).

I think you mean Bru's room? If so, yeah, they are a good spot to watch games. Been to that one, one in Pompano, one in Delray, and one in Boyntons.

Years ago, the Bru's room in Pomapano had an upstairs room that was all AU alums on AU game days. Had a lot of fun there back when I used to live in Boca.

Duffy's are good too. The one in Lauderdale and the one in Sunny Isles are two of the best places in south florida to watch a game.

Any chance that Malzahn considers redshirting Johnson next year? (Is that even possible?)

ETA: Sorry, AUTiger 5 mentioned this possibility after I had already started to ask.

Bru's Room's are good game spots. Watched the 2003 and 2007 IB in the Pompano and Delray Beach one's respectively.

Nick Hurt + J Wallace= Burn JJ's RS. It is really simple if you don't get all emotional about it.

To beat Western Carolina? No.

Wallace isn't good, but like I said, we probably didn't even need a QB to beat them.

No, you can redshirt anybody at any time as long as they haven't already been redshirted.

Take Jeff Whitaker for example. He's a true senior this year, so even with his injury, he can simply redshirt. If he had already been redshirted, he would have to apply for a medical hardship for a sixth year.

You don't redshirt until the end of the season.

People saying we "burned his redshirt" are actually saying we burned his opportunity to redshirt this year. He can still redshirt any other year unless he plays in that season.

Not at anytime. If you play 1 snap, you're no longer eligible for a Redshirt for that season.

This. There isn't some secret reason we burned his redshirt. We need depth at that position and we don't have the luxury of redshirting one of our two best QBs right now. Marshall could go down at any point in time, since he's going to be running a lot. We need Johnson to be ready if needed.

This is pretty much it and I would expect to see Johnson the second half of the FA game this weekend. Then with Arkansas the weekend after, if we get a couple touchdown lead he could be in for the fourth quarter on the road.

I was hesitant at first about burning his redshirt this year but I really don't think it is going to hurt him in the long run. He will play a good bit behind Marshall next year barring a brain fart and Marshall leaving early, then he will get a year to start before having a choice of going early or returning. This will allow White to come in and redshirt next year and then a year to play the clean up role.

This is actually probably better for the team in the long run to keep a two year gap between starter and backup quarterback.
