That's really a lot to be optimistic about for the defense. Sunshine or not.

Lot of sunshine but he has a point. Even if we still had EJ our defense should be vastly improved this year. With 8/arguably 9 returning starters, it is a hard sell to say we won't be better than last year

Returning Starters

Defensive End: Lambert, Lawson

Defensive Tackle: Monty Adams

Linebacker: Frost, Cass

CB: Jones, *Countess, Holsey

Safety: Rudy Ford

Guys Expected > Last Years starters

DL: Kennion , Cowart
S-Tray Matthews

The issue with Barber is that he isn't very smart. And because of that he is shite anywhere he has to use his head.

Not this year. Rotational starter only. Lambert, Kennion, Lawson all will be above him

Special teams: Punter, PR/KR

Punter: Hard to downgrade from our dumpster fire last year
Kerryon Johnson or Jason Smith.

Play Sam LB. Also KF and Cass are Pillsbury dough boy and Radio out there. They'll be benched at some point

Does Kozan pick up where he left off / Can Shon Coleman take his play to the next level (going to be 24 y/o this fall)?

Kozan will not be better than serviceable. Upgrade over Slade&Co but you don't just return full strength after his injury

Coleman will be top 1/3 LT in SEC. Not elite but definitely will be a quality piece

Will Thomas beat out Robinson at tailback / what's the work load going to be for both backs

He still has to hold off Kerryon Johnson who may be more dynamic as a pass catcher /not fumble in the IB

He has a pretty severe learning disability. But if it helps your self esteem to dump on him...

Im sorry and I am not trying to be a dick but how fricking smart do you have to be to run the ball?

I understand the offensive scheme is complex but if he cant grasp the running back position enough in two years to be able to play, how is he passing any of his classes?

I am going to call bull shite on this "He isn't smart enough to run the ball" for now. I called bullshite on it last year and I will continue to do so.

He looks good when they give him the rock

You are not. I sung his praises last year and will do so until I see different. He looks very physical.

I like him

Agree. I think one problem is that we are so loaded at the RB position. The third best is really damn good.

Barber isn't dumb. He battles with dyslexia. He has done incredibly well in the classroom despite his disability. He's a great kid too.

Barber isn't playing because of the talent in front of him. I have no idea about his intelligence, but I know many CFB players are very poor academically but can retain a great deal of info concerning football. It just makes sense to them much like science just makes sense to a scientist.

In general I believe most Auburn fans feel the same. I really thought he would transfer out during the offseason so he could get playing time.I think he is very physical and quick. Watching Barber run let's you know the two in front of him are bad asses.

When he is carrying the ball he is fantastic. He lacks in route running and pass pro. I'm probably being mean calling him dumb but he hasn't got the other parts of being the running back that the guys who are just as talented as he is running the ball.

Barber's problem is more political. He's behind two 5*s. He may run like Walter Payton, but if you move Roc to 3rd string he would transfer. If you tell Jovon he's behind Roc and Barber he wouldn't have come here ect...

I'm just glad he is on our team. I'm watching last year's ole miss game and we would have lost by 2 scores had they have had Barber.

No way. If Barber was the best, he'd be getting the most reps, period. I'm all for Barber and I've said in the past that I thought he was our best RB talent. The dude runs with a chip on his shoulder and destroys people. If he's good enough, he'll get the reps.

So you think Roc was better suited last season as a 185lb freshman to get more carries than Barber?

There's a little bit of politics and carry over from recruiting that goes on with the big fish like Roc

No there isn't. You earn or don't earn playing time based on performance. Truth is none of us know what PB can do or has done as well as the coaching staff. They see him everyday we have hardly seen him.

He is definitely a change of pace from CAP, whereas PB, not so much.

If Gus starts worrying about who might get their feelings hurt when deciding who plays, we are screwed!!

All I know for fact is we're in good shape with 3 damn good RBs. I think Roc starts and gets the majority. I do think we'll see more of Jovon than we did of CAP in 2013 though
